The rugged beauty of Namibia’s Northwest is set to come alive once more with the return of the Madisa Challenge, a unique and exhilarating Mountain Bike, Fat Bike, and Trail Running event. Hosted at the stunning Madisa Camp, the 2024 edition of the Madisa Challenge promises not only to deliver an unforgettable experience for all participants but also to support a noble cause. Scheduled for two thrilling days, this event combines the spirit of adventure with a mission of community upliftment.
Participants will navigate through rocky terrains and soft dune sands, embracing the natural beauty and demanding trails that define the Madisa Challenge. The event includes a variety of races catering to different skill levels and interests:
- A 2-day stage race covering 150 km for the most dedicated mountain bikers.
- The 75 km and 35 km mountain bike trails, offering tough but rewarding routes.
- A 35 km fat bike race through the captivating soft dune sands.
- Trail runs of 21 km and 10 km, showcasing the breath taking scenery of the area.
- A 5 km family trail run, encouraging participation from all ages and fitness levels.
The Madisa Challenge 2024 is more than just a test of endurance and skill. It is a beacon of hope for the Houmoed Pos community at the junction of the C35 in the Sorris Sorris Conservancy. Currently, the community’s children learn in a makeshift classroom, lacking essential educational infrastructure. This year’s event aims to raise funds to construct a proper Kindergarten and Pre-school with a hostel. With 20% of each entry fee dedicated to building materials and educational aids, participants will directly contribute to improving the lives and futures of these children.

The first ever Madisa Challenge was hosted in Namibia’s rugged Northwest in October 2020, and was not only a huge success, but also an amazing experience for all participants. The Madisa Challenge is a Mountain Bike, Fat Bike and Trail Running Event, hosted at the beautiful Madisa Camp. The MTB Trails run through rocky terrain to the North of Camp and the Fat Bike Trail in the soft dune sand to the South of the Camp. A Trail run of 10 km and 21 km was also added to the event, with stunning scenery along the way.
Madisa Camp has again partnered with Namib Adventure to host the Madisa Challenge 2022 from the 11th to the 13th of March 2022

MADISA CHALLENGE
2020
Madisa Camp partnered with Namib Adventures to host the first ever Madisa Challenge 2020. The Madisa Challenge is a Mountain Bike, Fat Bike and Trail Running Event that took place at Madisa Camp in Damaraland, from the 2nd to the 4th of October 2020, and a total of 62 riders and runners participated.
The next events, which are scheduled for March and October 2022, will offer a 35 km and 75km Mountain Bike Trail through rocky, sandy and technical terrain to the North of Camp and a 35km Fat Bike Trail in the soft dune sand to the South of the Camp, the fat bike track is a spectacular ride. A Trail run of 10km, and 21 km is set out with stunning scenery along the way.
The area is as beautiful as it is rugged and offers breathtaking scenery as well as challenging trails for Mountain Bikes, Fat Bikes, and Runners.
