Guided wildlife experience
Desert Elephant Tracking Excursion
Join an experienced guide in an open game-viewer in search of Damaraland’s desert-adapted elephants. The route follows dry riverbeds and valleys while the guide explains tracks, signs, behaviour and the challenges of living in this arid environment.
The activity focuses on respectful wildlife viewing. The elephants move freely over a large area, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Late-afternoon drive
Scenic Sundowner Drive
Take a relaxed late-afternoon drive through the landscapes surrounding Madisa. Giraffe, springbok, elephant and other wildlife may be seen along the way, although sightings cannot be guaranteed.
The drive ends on a koppie, where guests can enjoy drinks and snacks while the sun sets over Damaraland.

Guided experience
Nature Walk
Start or end the day with a guided nature walk to the granite outcrops and dry riverbeds surrounding Madisa. The slower pace gives guests time to notice tracks, plants, birds and the smaller details that are easily missed from a vehicle.
The walk is subject to weather, wildlife activity and guide availability. Ask the reservations team to confirm the departure time, duration and current rate.

Sorris Sorris Hiking Safari
This four-day, fully supported slack-packing hike covers approximately 70 km through the Sorris Sorris Conservancy towards the Brandberg and Ugab River. The first and final nights are spent at Madisa Camp, with three nights in comfortable mobile bush camps along the hiking route.
Hikers carry only a daypack while the WWS team transfers their luggage between camps. Each overnight bush camp includes comfortable tents with proper beds and linen, hot bush showers, toilets, prepared meals and a daily foot spa. Local guides and the experienced WWS team provide support throughout the journey.

Observe with as little disturbance as possible.
Madisa is in unfenced wilderness, and wildlife moves freely through the area. Always follow the guide’s instructions, keep a respectful distance and never approach or block an animal. Activities are designed to observe wildlife with as little disturbance as possible.
